200mhz to 233mhzHow do i change my hp cpu speed? You'll need to overclock it by swapping in a new crystal oscillator. Inside your computer there's a silver can about the size of an index fingertip. It's usually rectangular and sort of flat...not cylindrical. It should have 2 wires sticking out of the bottom of it that are soldered to the motherboard. There should also be some black print on it indicating it's operating frequency. You'll need to buy a new one that operates at the frequency you want to run at and swap it in place of the old one. This means you'll need a soldering iron (or soldering gun) to remove the old one and insert the new one.
This is sort of a gamble as to whether it will work or not. A lot of times, there's some added unused clock speed margin in the CPU that you can take advantage of by inserting a faster crystal oscillator, but sometimes there's very little margin or no margin at all. It shouldn't hurt to swap in a new crystal. If it doesn't work, you could always put the old one back in.
If the faster crystal doesn't work, you could also try overdriving the voltage on your CPU by an extra 0.25v - 0.5v which will allow it to accomodate a faster crystal, but your really playing with fire when you do that. If you overdrive it to much you could destroy your CPU. You'll also increase the risk of electromigration which will reduce the longterm reliability of the CPU.
Then again, if you're still using a 200MHz CPU, it's probably about at the end of it's life anyway. How do i change my hp cpu speed?get a different one. there is no software or setting. you have to do it physicully buy getting a new processor.
