1) You can always use your old hard drive in new cpu. As far as formatting is concerened; you can do one thing; save all your data to one partition and format the other partitions. By doing this you can save your data from getting lost.

2) And to transfer data from old to new hdd, you can attach both the hard drives as master and secondary slaves in the jumper in your motherboard, after this when you will open your computer system, you will see two hard drives in your computer, from there you can transfer your data from old to new hdd.

To know the hdd configurations and search for them, right click the %26quot;My Computer%26quot; icon and select the %26quot;MANAGE%26quot; option, this will display the number of hdd's in your PC and available partition types.

You can opt for any of the options...

(Help Please)?Technova is right. If your other computer is inoperable, your only option is using the secondary motherboard/harddrive as a slave drive.

If it is operable in anyway, you should be able to jolley them together using a USB or ethernet connection.
