My first build; are these components okay and might I be able to make it for less?

Building using Build Your Own PC for Dummies; with that and a few questions here, this is what I've come up with:

Case: Logisys Black In and Out Case w/ Logisys 480W Power Supply $50

CPU: Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition $170

Mobo: Asus M4A78T-E $115

RAM: Crucial CT2KIT25664BA1339 4GB $105

Hard Drive: Wester Digital 500GB WD5001AALS $70

Optical: Sony Nec Optiarc AD-7241S-0B $38

GPU: EVGA 01G-P3-N945-LR GeForce 9400 GT 1GB $60

OS: Vista 64-bit $125

Modem?

Monitor?

Keyboard/mouse?

Last three haven't picked yet; don't know enough about modem and I might be able to salvage a monitor and keyboard/mouse somewhere in my house or workplace. What I've got so far comes to $733, but the art software I have to get for school (Adobe CS4 Design Premium) will cost me another $400, so if I can put this thing together for even less than what it is now, without changing the CPU at least, then I'd love to hear how. Other than that, any advice, comments, or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. My first build; are these components okay and might I be able to make it for less? Are you using newegg as a retailer? If so,good choice! If not I would recommend them.

I would suggest you change the OS to Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium for $105

You could use a cheaper mobo than what you have listed. The following will work with your CPU.

Unless you use dial-up then you don't need a modem.

If you can't source a keyboard and mouse Microsoft has good quality keyboard/mouse combos at a good price.

If you look around on Newegg, you can probably find 4 GB of RAM for less. You can also pick up a 9500 GT which is a bit better for the same price

You don't need a modem really as those are for dial up. Might want to buy a cheap wireless card though
