Dfi Infinity 975X/G Overclocking?

I have just upgraded my ram and when i try to overclock my CPU it increases the ram speed aswell which the ram can't handle and the computer won't startup. How can i change the CPU speed and keep the ram speed the same?. My fsb is 266 at the moment and i have DDR2 800 ram so the speed of the ram does not need to increase!Dfi Infinity 975X/G Overclocking?First off, I'm pretty sure your numbers are backwards... your FSB is ether 800 or 1066 depending on the cpu and your memory is 800/667/533 depending on the memory...

If you're sure that the memory is the weak point (and not the cpu) what you need to do is decrease the RAM speed setting in BIOS... so if you have DDR2 667 then you need to go into bios find the memory speed setting and turn auto off and set 533... that way when you do overclock, the memory will be able to handle it.

The correlation between CPU and RAM overclocking is because both are on the same bus and you overclock a CPU by increasing the FSB so ram speed must incrase with it. This is a physical limitation of overclocking and can't be avoided.
