Wanna get new CPU/motherboard, what's good?

I am planning to change my motherboard/CPU combo at Fry's. what are some things I should be aware of? Brand-wise? Price-wise? How much can I get a decent combo?

I plan to spend around $300.Wanna get new CPU/motherboard, what's good?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

is your best combo for most bang for your buck. Amd is also a bit cheaper if you don't need alot of performance.

together with quad core and mobo is about 300$.Wanna get new CPU/motherboard, what's good?you should know that if you replace your mobo and your processor that you well need to reinstall windows. also you probly wont be able to get a good quad core for less then 300 alone, then add a good mobo in there and your looking at around 450 for both.Wanna get new CPU/motherboard, what's good?Intel C2D E8400 @3.0Ghz

Q6600 is great also and can be overclocked from 2.4Ghz to 3.2Ghz easily.Wanna get new CPU/motherboard, what's good?I bought a q6600 (quad core) at frys yesterday for $200 (the deals over now), but newegg still has it for $240.

Alternatively, you can get the newer 45nm duo core cpus from intel. The e8400 coust around $225 at frys.

You could get a decent motherboard for $100. Pretty much any name brand will do for the motherboard. If you're planning on overclocking then get a higher end motherboard ~$200
