right, i have had a go at this but need expert advice. my specs: ASUS AN8 SLI SE m/b
ddr 400 ram
4200 cpu ( socket 939)
arctic pro 64 cooler
thermaltake eclipse case
8800 gts 640 mb
160 W/D hd
600w silverstone strider psu.
basically i want my pc to run games as fast as poss! i had the cpu running at 2.8ghz just by upping the fsb, but the ram auto went down to 266mhz and would blue screen if i changed it. is is better to have a faster cpu or faster ram? ive set my pci bus to lock at 33mhz but how do i stop the ram speed changing? currently at cpu: 2300mhz and ram now 420. i assume i need to keep the ram at 400mhz (its only cheap rubbish btw) but it always goes up when i increase the fsb. anyone with a similar system who has given it the beans, let me know the best course of action!
cheersOverclocking my pc?Overclocking the CPU through BIOS will give you some performance gains for gaming, and a 4200 should o/clock up to 2.6, although with only a 64 pro I would not venture beyond 2.4
More important for game performance though is your graphics card. Your 8800GTS is good enough to run most games at high settings anyway, so any performance gain might only be noticeable in artificial test rigs such as 3DMark. If you do want more, o/clock your GFX card first, using RivaTuner. As always, overclock in small increments, and test thoroughly. When you find your max. throttle back a little from this to give the component some performance headroom.Overclocking my pc?cpu more important
i have a 3600 x2
also with ddr2 6400 ram (800 mhz)
the 3600 stock speed is 2.6ghz
the ram was at 750 mhz
when i played a video game, the speed drastically improved
anyways, when you overclock, the fsb increases both cpu and ramOverclocking my pc?You need to alter the HyperTransport bus multiplier as it'll only go up to 1000MHz, or 200MHz x 5. I have my AMD 4200+ (200MHz x 11 = 2.2GHz) running at 2.5GHz (227MHz x 11) but I had to alter the HyperTransport bus to a 4x multiplier.Overclocking my pc?Why dont you just buy a new PC?Overclocking my pc?CRYSIS QUESTION FROM EARLIER -
ITS UR BETA DRIVERS. UNINSTALL AND ROOLBACK TO 163 DRIVERS. I HAD SAME PROB. IF THIS DONT WORK. UNINSTALL.TRY AGAIN. IF STILL NO WORK - DWNLD 3DMARK 2006 - U SHOULD SCORE OVER 10K. IF NOT - SOM ETHING WRONG WITH YOUR SYSTEM.

Phenom x4 940 cpu ??????????????
Hi friends
i have amd x2 6000+(3.01ghz stock) and am2+ mobo m3a78 em
im planning to upgrade my cpu to phenom 940.....
but my doubt is will it give a better performance ....because now my x2 runs with same ghz......3.01
will a quad core with enhanced cache will rise my system performance?anyone made a change like me in ur cpu???how many fps will increase in major games like crysis???warhead etc..???
pls help me friends....Phenom x4 940 cpu ??????????????the 940 will kick butt at just about anything you throw at it. its about 21/2 times faster then your current CPU .. plus you can OC it with ease. your graphics card will be the limiting factor in FPS in those games.Phenom x4 940 cpu ??????????????It will improve performance, but it's not worth the cost for current games. The smart thing to do would be to wait for it to come down in price and for newer game engines to come out.

Does CPU speeds up computer more or Ram or both? by howmuch each?
Hey Fellaws, I'm wondering how does CPU and Ram individually affect speed of a computer? I recently added more Ram to my PC and it's faster in opening/closing programs and multi-tasking. What I wanna know is if I add 1 GB more of Ram would speed up my PC more or if I somehow magically change my 3.4 GHz CPU to 4.4 GHz? (not worrying about how it's not possible and motherboard compatibility and all)
Thank You's ;)Does CPU speeds up computer more or Ram or both? by howmuch each?Double the CPU speed will give your about 1.5x the speed, the same with RAMDoes CPU speeds up computer more or Ram or both? by howmuch each?1into2into 3into4 they all work together the more ram you have the better Program will run having a dedicated graphics card alleviates strain on your cpu/hard drive which makes things work faster as well as ram but remember 32 bit like xp you really get no use but 3.5 gig of ram for say like 4 and above you need 64 bit like vista or windows 7Does CPU speeds up computer more or Ram or both? by howmuch each?ram has nothing to do with it

Computer cpu swap. 2.3 to 2.8 ghz. do I have to update bios?
I have a compaq presario 2500 laptop. came with 2.3 ghz. processor and 512 mb of ram. I came across a dell laptop parts donor. it had 2.8 ghz processor and 1gb of ram. swapped the parts. ram first. works great. then decided to go ahead and try the cpu swap. fits perfect. the computer still works but is slower. in my computer properties it recognizes the 2.8 ghz processor but think it is running at 908 mhz. the number below the processor. I have been told that I need to update the bios if so how. I have also read about changing the voltage to the cpu in the bios. but what would I change it to and how much is to much?Computer cpu swap. 2.3 to 2.8 ghz. do I have to update bios?I would put your orginal cpu back in. Running the replacement at 908mhz indicates the chip has suffered deterioration. Althought the 2.8ghz is bigger in number it sounds like your cpu didn't have any deterioration.
How to make the CPU auto switch on when the UPS is turned on??
I have a PC, I want it to switch it on itself as soon as I switch on the UPS, i guess some hardware changes have to be made inside the CPU(I mean wires should be placed on particular)slots.
Can anyone please help me with it,
I will be greatfull to uHow to make the CPU auto switch on when the UPS is turned on??Hi. An ATX style motherboard can be powered up by jumping two pins on the main power cable. The wires are green and black and are number 4 and 3, I think. I personally would not do this because you will experience some pretty wild swings in voltage until everything settles down in the UPS. http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guides/at If you decide to try this anyway, just get a crimp connector and crimp it on the two wires. Or you could run wires to a SPST switch to make it so this function can be defeated.sides of my fingernails how to cope with infidelity

OverClocking, Someone help me Fry my CPU?
Before you go about to warn be about the dangers of OverClocking, its totally ok because this is a trash model i found in the dumpster for experimenting.
The Mobo is a Biostar with a 1.7ghz intel cpu. It only gots 128mb ram. Im placing one of my own heatsinks and fans on it to keep it cool. The Bios is Very Overclock friendly, it allows me to tweak the cpu and ram each in two ways. now im gonna list what the bios stated.
*For the CPU
CPUClock Ratio [10x] (with the option to change to from 10min to 24max
Spead Spectrum [+/-0.25%] (dunno what this is for)
CPU Clock [100mhz] (gives me option to change from 100min to 132max
*Now the Ram
Current FSB Frequency 100mhz
Current DRAM Frequency 133mhz
DRAM Clock [By SPD] (gives me the option to change from 100mhz to 133mhz]
DRAM Timing [By SPD] (gives me the option to change saying manuel)
DRAM Burst Len [4] (gives me the option to change from 4 to 8
CPU read DRAM mode [medium] (gives me the option to change from slow, medium, fast.
The current CPU temperature is at 30C and 86F
Let me know how you think i should tweak it. I'll post the image of the PC here in a little bit.OverClocking, Someone help me Fry my CPU?have fun you crazy kid!

How do I get my different screensavers to change?
Is there a way to get all of my different screen savers to work and change at different times? I'm (obviously) not that cpu literate. Any help is appreciated!!!How do I get my different screensavers to change?Easy, Jon. Go to start, control panel, display, click the tab that says screensavers, choose when you want the screensavers to begin (e.g. in 10 minutes), the amount of time you want each screensaver displayed (e.g. 10 seconds), whether you want transitional effects, and the speed at which you want those effects to take place (slow, medium or fast), and you're on your way. webshots.com offers wonderful photos of animals, scenery, rainbows, sunsets, tropical pictures, sea life, almost anything you can imagine. You register for free with them at webshots.com and, if you like, they'll send you their sampler of webshots for the week. If you like a photo, doubleclick on it, and it will download in seconds. You can go back even several years through their archives, and pull together a great collection that you create yourself. It's free, it's fun, and you can even do a search for (e.g. waterfalls) and webshots.com will bring up all the waterfall photos they have. I have everything from the Taj Mahal at sunset to paintings by Monet. Enjoy yourself and have fun with it. You can do it, Jon; I know you can! Best of luck. How do I get my different screensavers to change? You can select only one screensaver at a time. To switch to another screensaver, you will have to change it manually. How do I get my different screensavers to change?right click your mouse and go to properties, then it'll say change your screensaver. Thanks for the points.
