How to change hard drive modes?

Works in PIO Mode only even though both the motherboard and the disk should support UDMA2 Mode (Secondary IDE Channel work in UDMA2 Mode)

This situation makes the drive work very slow (around 1/10 its nominal transfer rate),

hot and uses up to 90% of CPU time.

How can I change this on my MEDION MD5400 notebook?

If there's any more info you need to help me, just email me and i'll update the question and email you the update. How to change hard drive modes?Anything here apply?
