How does a Pentium-M CPU of a given gHz compare to a single core of a Core2Duo of the same gHz rating?

It would be nice to see some benchmarks. I'm looking to upgrade, but if I use primarily single-threaded apps, I want to know what kind of performance change I can expect. Thanks! How does a Pentium-M CPU of a given gHz compare to a single core of a Core2Duo of the same gHz rating? If you use applications that do not take advantage of the parallelization in dual-core CPU's, they will run at about the speed of a single core. You will experience a slight boost since some of the background processes will be offloaded unto the other core, but it would be perhaps ~10% faster.

As an overall benchmark, comparing dual core CPU's to single core CPU's with the same clockspeed, the dual core CPU runs about 40% faster.
