My PC warns, CPU changed, re enter on CMOS. What is CPU, and how to re enter?

Hello,

(ANS) This error message indicates that your computers CMOS backup battery has gone flat and has lost all charge. Meaning that you need a new CMOS battery installing.

NOTE:- The computers CMOS settings are backup %26amp; maintained by having a battery which is mounted on the system board or motherboard of the machine.

When the CMOS battery fails (normally it lasts about 5years) you will have lost the PC's settings such as date %26amp; system time (clock).

**A battery suitable for the CMOS easily can be purchased from any good electrical shop, computer store, boots or staples etc. It normally costs about 4 and is a small pill shaped thin cell battery.

**And if you know how to do it, replacing the CMOS is a 5min job. However, it does need to be done by someone who knows how to do this. Its not a novice task (no disrespect).

**A computer store should be able to do this easily for you if you cannot tackle this yourself.

What is CPU, and how to re enter?CPU = Central Processing Unit, the main processor of your computer, such as an Intel Pentium or AMD Athlon.

Since clearly you would know this if you really had changed it, I suspect that there is a problem with a small memory chip which your BIOS uses to store it's configuration, and it's forgotten what processor you have. Reboot your machine, and near the beginning of the boot sequence there will be a message saying how to enter the BIOS configuration - usually you press a function key. You should look for anything which looks odd like %26quot;not known%26quot;, or %26quot;not confirmed%26quot; in relation to the CPU.
