If I change CPU and motherboard what will happen to my OS?

Hey, so I'm about to upgrade my sh**ty 2.3 gHz Phenom X4 and Im also getting the 'nForce 980a SLI AMD Motherboard.' Im going to get the mobo first and the CPU (Phenom II) later.

But my question is how will the OS play out in all this? Will I need a new OS (don't have installation CD)? Will I have to reformat my hard drive?

Help please, thanks. If I change CPU and motherboard what will happen to my OS?Hi.

Nothing will happen to your OS if you add CPU to your existing motherboard, but if you will change the MB you will have to reinstall your OS. In order to do that you're gonna need the installation CD, you can borrow it from your friend for example. If I change CPU and motherboard what will happen to my OS?1st you have to get a hard copy of an operating system even on flasl/cd/dvd....

2nd your hard disk have to have the software to see the new hard ware devices

3rd you have to format the partition c only to get the new operating systemIf I change CPU and motherboard what will happen to my OS?If you don't have the installation CD, you need to contact Microsoft.
